Car Insurance Mercedes-Benz (Car Insurance). Question about buying a used car?

Question about buying a used car? The vehicle that I'm currently looking it is at a dealership. They have the carfax posted online, and it looks good other than 1 thing. The car has two owners, the first owner owned the car for 7ish years and put 80kish miles on it. The second owner only owned the car for 2 months though and put around 3kish miles on it. Does that sound fishy to you? The car's priced right, it's not ridiculously cheap or anything. I'm also going to check it out this weekend. Some input would be nice though. Thank you

You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here - carquotes.sinfree.net Two owners as you described doesn't sound fishy at all. There are hundreds of reasons why someone would only keep a car for a few months before selling. The second owner only owned the car for 2 months though and put around 3kish miles on it. Does that sound fishy to you? --- I always worry when buying a used car. Usually people who are second owners and keep it for only a short time sounds kinda fishy to me. Why pay big bucks for a used car and then sell it right away?? Watch out for poor gas mileage and other problems with it. I just bought a beautiful Malibu with only 55K milrage and thought I got a bargain. Wondered why these people were selling it? It was very nice shape but the gas mileage on it is horrible. I don't even get 15 miles to the gallon!! What a gas hog! Good luck in finding a good one. I think that it's very legitimate to question why the owner sold the car after two months. There are many innocent reasons (new job, and could afford a better car, for example) and some fishy reasons (had a problem that couldn't be easily fixed, for example).

Mercedes-Benz . 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee making knocking noise ideled and while accelerating....?

97 Jeep Grand Cherokee making knocking noise ideled and while accelerating....? It appears to be allot of us experiencing the same problem with their Jeep Grand Cherokee (mine is a 97) relating to knocking, rattling noise. Mine knocks while the car is idling and increases to what sounds like a rattling/knocking when I accelerate. I sometimes smell oil, but not all the times. I have had a two mechanics look at it and a personal friend mechanic said it was coming from deep within the engine and it would be costly and time consuming to research and AAA mechanic said it was coming from deep within the engine as well. It does sound like it has something to do with the exhaust, but I know as much about cars as I know about going to the moon. I was reading one of the responses posted 1yr ago from “Chris K” an ASE Cert. Jeep/GM/Ford Tech w/29 year’s service experience. And feel confident that he’s on target and anyone looking to fix this problem, I feel like their see an opportunity to make allot of money, since I don’t know anything about cars. I try to print out possible resolutions from sites like Yahoo Answers/Jeep Grand Forum to assist the mechanic searching for the problem and they seem to shoot down the print out theories I supply them from the internet. My car has 240,000 miles on it, but the family friend I got the car from was a stickler on the maintenance and kelp great records on the service to the car, so I don’t feel like I got a lemon, cause other then this noise the car is running fine. I wish we could get a clear answer to this problem. I’m currently unemployed and cannot afford to take it to another mechanic right now. If anyone has gotten the problem fixed, please specify exactly what was fixed and is it a do it yourself job, with no mechanical knowledge? HELP!!!!!!!!! car insurance.

Mercedes-Benz . How do I Fix 1990 Honda Drum Brakes?

One of your Honda's most important safety features is the braking system. Over time, your brakes wear down, reducing their effectiveness, and possibly causing them to fail completely, placing you and others in danger. Maintaining your brakes can prevent this from happening. Hondas, like most cars, usually have drum brakes on the rear wheels. This is a type of brake in which the brake pads are placed inside a drum on the wheel hub. When the brakes are engaged, the brake pads press out against the inside of the drum.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
Lug wrench
Jack
Jack stands
2 bolts, 8 mm
Adjustable wrench
Brake wash
Safety goggles
Gloves
Screwdriver
Needle-nose pliers
Dremel drill
Brake grease
Brake padsSuggest EditsItem AddWhy is it necessary?Done

Step by Step :
1
Park the Honda on a flat surface. Engage the emergency brake and put the car in "Park" for an automatic transmission or first gear for a manual transmission.
2
Jack up the rear of the car with a jack. Place a jack stand underneath the outer frame on each side and slowly lower the car onto them.
3
Remove the rear tires by unscrewing the lug nuts with a lug wrench and taking them off the car.
4
Locate the two holes on the front of the brake drum and screw an 8 mm bolt into each hole. Turn each bolt twice before alternating to the other one until the brake drum comes off the wheel hub.
5
Wash the brake drum and wheel hub with brake wash, catching the brake wash in a drain pan. Wear safety goggles and gloves while doing this.
6
Disconnect the springs that keep the brake pads in place, beginning with the bottom ones. Use a screwdriver and pair of pliers to press down on the spring and turn the pin that locks the pin into place.
7
Lift the primary brake pad from the wheel hub -- it shouldn't be connected to anything.
8
Disconnect the secondary brake pad from the parking brake cable.
9
Pry off the U-clip which connects the parking-brake arm to the brake shoe. If it's too damaged to remove with the pliers, grind it off with a Dremel drill.

Step by Step :
10
Apply brake grease to the locations on the wheel hub where the brake shoes make contact.

Step by Step :
11
Slide the new brake pads into place on the wheel hub.

Step by Step :
12
Reassemble the brake by reversing the process that you used to disassemble it. Repeat this procedure on the wheel on the other side of the car.

Step by Step :
13
Place the tires back onto the wheel hubs and secure them with the lug nuts.

Step by Step :
14
Raise the car off of the jack stands and remove the jack stands. Slowly lower the car onto the ground.
Tips & Warnings
Avoid coming into direct contact with the brake dust as it may contain asbestos.

Mercedes-Benz . How to Remove the Drum Brakes From a 1998 Ford F150

Many vehicles are still manufactured with drum brakes on the rear axle and disc brakes on the front wheels. This is acceptable because the majority of the vehicle's braking is handled by the front wheels. You can remove the drum brakes from the rear of a Ford F150 yourself.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
Safety glasses
Floor jack
Lug wrench
Jack stands
Wheel blocks
Screwdriver set
Miscellaneous hand tools
Snap ring pliers
Brake adjuster spoon
Brake spring tool

Step by Step :
1
Place blocks on the front side of the front wheels, while the truck is parked on a solid level surface. Do not engage the emergency brake.
2
Loosen all rear lug nuts one-half turn, but do not remove them.
3
Slide the jack under the center of the rear differential and raise the rear of the vehicle. Insert two jack stands under the frame near each rear wheel. Remove the rear lug nuts and the two rear wheels.
4
Remove the brake drum by pulling it off the rear axle. This may require that a brake adjuster spoon or large screwdriver be inserted into the elongated slot on the bottom of the brake backing plate to turn the star wheel adjuster loose.
5
Snap two pictures, one for each wheel's brake, because they are not symmetric. The forward shoe on many brakes have a different length brake pad on top.
6
Remove the brake shoe return spring located over the star wheel adjuster at the bottom of the backing plate, using the handle of the brake pliers or a large screwdriver. Remove the star wheel adjuster.
7
Remove the springs and spring linkage rods from the top shoe stud located at the top of the brake backing plate.
8
Push and twist the shoe retaining spring washer to unlock it, from holding the shoes to the backing plate. To remove the washer from the nail pin protruding from the backing plate use the brake tool or a pliers.
9
Remove the brake shoe washer guide located on the top shoe pin. The brake shoe washer guide looks like a flat propeller

Step by Step :
10
Unsnap the snap ring that holds the emergency brake cable and assembly to the brake shoe, using snap ring pliers. Remove the brake shoes from the brake assembly and replace if necessary.

Step by Step :
11
Brush clean and inventory all of the removed brake parts to prepare for reassembly.

Step by Step :
12
Repeat the same brake shoe procedure for the other wheel.
Tips & Warnings
Lock the truck doors before removing the brake drum to prevent the brake pedal from being applied.

The star wheel adjuster may need loosening, with a brake adjusting tool or large screwdriver inserted in the elongated slot at the bottom of the backing plate.

Hold the nail pin from turning when unlocking the spring washer.

To replace the brake shoes reverse the brake shoe removing steps, and rely on the photo take of each wheel.

Always wear eye protection when working in or around a vehicle.

Do not push the brake pedal with the drum removed, because it pop the wheel cylinder and require bleeding the rear brakes.

Changing fuses A fuse box is easy to recognize (see Figure 12-51), and replacing burnt-out fuses is a fairly simple matter. If your stereo, clock, map light, turn signal, or other electrical appliances stop working, chances are that a fuse has blown. Changing a fuse is much cheaper than paying for a new clock or for repairs that you don't need, even if you chicken out and have an automotive technician do it, so take a few minutes to find your fuse box. It's usually located under the dashboard often behind a panel or in the engine compartment. Your owner's manual can help you locate it. Before you open or work on your fuse box, be sure the key in the ignition is turned to "Off." To fix a blown fuse, look for a fuse that's black inside or no longer has its filaments intact (see Figure 12-52). Unless you have a blade-type fuse with prongs, take a bobby pin or paper clip, bend it, and use it to pull out the bad fuse. Then press a new fuse into place. When you've replaced all the burnt-out fuses, try your stereo or clock again. If it still doesn't work, then worry about having it repaired or replaced. . Replacing and adjusting headlights Today's vehicles feature many kinds of illumination: headlights, taillights, directional signals, and fog lights make it easier for you to see and be seen; overhead lights, map lights, lit glove compartments, and illuminated mirrors on sun visors all require attention periodically. In this section, I deal primarily with headlights. If you experience problems with other lights, it's usually just a matter of removing the face plate and changing the bulb, or changing the fuse associated with the light. If that doesn't do the trick, seek professional help. There's one exception: If any of your directional signals stop flashing, or you 593 Car Insurance chevrolet 1500 extended cab 1993 longbed 15771

can no longer hear clicking inside the car when they're supposed to be on, the signals themselves may not be malfunctioning. Directional signals also serve as troubleshooting tools to alert you to other lights that may not be working properly. For this reason, you can find information about directional signals in Chapter 20. If they appear to be out of alignment, check out the section called "Checking headlight alignment," later in this chapter. Here are some other headlight problems and how to deal with them: If one of your headlights won't work on low but does work on high, you have to replace the bulb.

* If a light doesn't work on either high or low beam, you probably have a bad connection in the wiring. Before attempting to replace or adjust your headlights, you need to know whether you have the old-style sealed-beam units or the newer halogen headlights. Replacing halogen headlights Since around 1980, most vehicles have come with halogen headlights. Although they are twice as powerful as sealed-beam units and enable a driver to see 20 percent farther, they require less power to operate. To replace a bulb on a halogen headlight, use Figure 12-53 as a guide while you take the following steps: 1. Open the hood and unplug the electrical connector that plugs into the lock ring. 2.

Unscrew the bulb-retaining ring (if your unit has one) or the bulb assembly to expose the socket. 3. Remove the old bulb and install the replacement. Do not touch the glass bulb! Natural oils from the skin on your fingers will create a hotspot that will cause the bulb to burn out prematurely. Instead, handle the bulb by its plastic base, or the metallic tip if it has one. 4. Replace the unit and the retaining ring or bulb assembly and replug the connector. If you need to adjust the alignment of a halogen headlight, it has two adjusting screws, as shown in Figure 12-54.
